Clark sank the first technical free throw, tying Maravich. Then she sank the second, making her scoring numeral the largest.
“It’s really, like, crazy to think about,” Clark said. “Obviously if you had told me at the beginning of my college career I would have laughed in your face,” but now it sinks in slowly with March in bloom even as, “It’ll definitely hit me at some point.”
Clark has up to 9 games left to add to that record if Iowa makes it to the Big 10 championship and they return to the National Championship. Getting to 4000 career points1 is on the extreme edge of possibility if she averages 35 ppg and her team keeps winning. Fun to think about as she chases an NCAA Championship.
Clark reached a career total of 3951 points after leading Iowa to another runner-up finish in the title game, this time falling to South Carolina.↩
