🎄 Christmas Breakin'
Started my Christmas Break a day early today and it was unusually busy. Slept in a little bit, got up made some coffee, and worked on my Magic Arena dailies for a bit. Then had to deliver and pick up Nathan for his one class of the day. Ate a quick lunch of leftovers then had to go meet Eawyn and my father-in-law so we could test-drive a used car.
The test drive went well, the car looked like a solid value, so I brought Eawyn back home to visit her cats1 and decide if she was going to make an offer. The younger girls and I needed to get in a run, so we did that in the pleasant 42°F December afternoon shortly after I got back home. We ran to the Holiday House and admired all the massive Christmas-themed Star Wars inflatables in their yard right now.
Mary messaged that she would be calling on her break for an update on the car shopping. She talked to me and then Eawyn to get the low down. Ultimately Eawyn decided to make an offer and after an hour or so the seller got back to us and accepted. So then we had to go to the credit union and cut a cashier's check before the end of the day since they're closed on the weekend. I took Eawyn back to her apartment after that and we're set to complete the car transaction tomorrow afternoon when she finishes her Saturday shift.
On the way back home I took the bike commuter route near Eawyn's apartment I had contemplated and confirmed that it looks completely viable. In her shoes, I would have skipped the expense of a car and bought a $500 seated electric scooter and commuted on it year-round in conjunction with the bus system. But I completely understand the appeal and freedom of having her own car, especially at her age.
They'll move into her apartment once she's settled, has the last of her furniture, and is fully unpacked.↩
