🥶 Cold Snap 2025
Winter has fully engaged here in Spokane this week with a few inches of snow on the ground and temperatures dipping into the single digits overnight. This makes wrangling our new puppies in the morning particularly challenging. They're nowhere close to potty trained yet, so once they wake up we need to rush them downstairs and out the back door before they start peeing. Getting dressed to accompany them outside in these conditions is a whole process that's liable to wake them up as well. So it's challenging at the moment.
One silver lining of the low temperatures is that the pups don't get very wet as there is minimal snow melt happening. I'm impressed with the insulative qualities of the little guys' fur because they seem quite content and comfortable out in this cold weather. Even inside I've noticed they like resting on cold and hard materials like our fireplace rather than on a blanket or conventional dog bed.
On a funny note, The pups have also been wearing out our kids. My younger son, Nathan, who is 17, had to take a nap this afternoon he was so drained from all the pup play he's been taking part in. The pups definitely crash through out the day thanks to our kids' efforts, but they really need to learn how to pace themselves as well.
