So... Axodys?

🏡 Floored

I did a little bit of digital and home office cleanup today to start the new year off and stumbled upon some pictures of my 11 and 9-year old daughters as toddlers. They were super-cute of course, but what really caught my attention was the flooring. There were so many shots of them crawling and playing on the horrible mauve carpet that our house had for the first three or four years after we bought it. It was everywhere, the master bed and bath, the living and dining rooms, as well as the stairs. And the linoleum, that horrible old linoleum in the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room.

Over the last decade, I replaced it all. Laminate flooring was installed everywhere on the main floor except for the bathroom and laundry room, which got new tile flooring. A few years after that I redid the stairs and replaced the last remaining sections of that infamous mauve rug upstairs. More flooring tile in the master bath and laminate everywhere else. It's been a few years now since I finished all that flooring work and I've clearly started to take it for granted. Seeing the before shots again today was a real reminder to take stock and appreciate all the improvements we've made in this house1.

  1. And a reminder that I'm going to need to do the basement flooring at some point as well.🙄
