🏃 Hat and Glove Weather
It's really cooled off in the Spokane area over the last couple weeks and now that we've started to get more precipitation again that's added to the challenge. My last two runs with the girls I've worn gloves, layered up for my torso, and swapped my shorts for running pants. Surprise, surprise suddenly I'm completely comfortable again after feeling cold for most of October.
In the past I've reduced my running during the winter, but generally tried to keep it up throughout as snow accumulation and depth allows. It can be hard to run my usual routes around our house if the roads aren't fully plowed, but I can usually run around campus after work since the sidewalks are regularly cleared by plant services. Some winters we don't get much snow at all so that isn't even an issue, but I think we're due for more snow this year.
This year will be different in that I'd like to be able to keep running with my daughters if they're interested and conditions allow. We only run three times a week and tend to average between 4 and 5K, but the routes we run from home aren't going to be fully plowed. I'll need to find some new routes and we'll probably have to make short drives to neighborhoods that aren't busy, but still get plowed regularly. Driving into work is possible, but further than I'd prefer and would add at least an hour to the time we'd devote to running.
