Started the day off at work by relocating my desk. A new hire starts Monday and it makes more sense for him to be in my old location because of workspace and team proximity, etc. Unfortunately the ethernet ports at my new location were on the wrong vlan so I couldn't login until we straightened that out.

Started watching the Women's Breaking Olympic competition with my younger daughters because of the Australian competitor, Raygun's Twitter notoriety, but actually enjoying the whole thing once we got to the truly skilled competitors.

Randomly went down a rabbit hole of wondering how Ethiopia ended up landlocked when it is so close to the African coast and learned that there's a tiny country named Djibouti that serves as its primary port. Unsurprisingly the U.S., China, and France have military presences there, but I was surprised to learn Japan does as well.

Looks like Apple has already released a bunch of incremental updates to the minor updates they pushed out last week. Ventura is now on 13.6.9, Sonoma on 14.6.1, but it looks like Monterey is still at 12.7.6 for now.

πΊ I've been binging the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine lately and loving it. Such a funny show and cast. Andre Braugher and Andy Samberg were such a comedic power combo and Braugher's far-too-early passing last year is a loss to us all. I'm absolutely going to work my way through Homicide: Life on the Street once it's up on Peacock.

πArs Technica reports that the current software on board the Starliner is incapable of an auto-undocking and entry maneuver into the atmosphere. This is unbelievably poor mission planning and management considering they had that capability for the original unmanned test two years ago!

π The Starliner test crew has now been in orbit for 60 days- 7 weeks longer than planned. Despite what Boeing and NASA PR are claiming, I don't buy that they still feel it's safe for the astronauts to land in. Send them home via Space-X and return Starliner remotely if able.

Went to move our spare car this morning so I could park my own car in the garage again and lost my whole morning to a flat tire. No idea how my daughter drove home on it safely last night, but it's got a cm gash that doesn't look repairable. We knew that set of tires was due for replacement soon, but the timing's not great.
