Incidentally, I think that makes 8 new record-high days for Spokane in 2024 so far based on the extreme weather watch Spokane highs page. 2021 also had 8, but that was for the whole year with records in November and December.

Apparently the past three days each broke the existing daily record high in Spokane for that date, but the forecast seems to indicate the trend will end today.

β½οΈ We made tie-dye shirts as a family activity yesterday. Mine turned out okay, but somewhat unsatisfactory given what I was going for. My youngest daughter had the best shirt by far because she didn't hold back on the dye application. I kind of want to try again now that I see where it went wrong for me.

π§ββοΈ Magic fans don't deserve Mark Rosewater. His ability to give measured, respectful, and thoughtful responses to the overreactions of emotionally invested (challenged?) players is without peer. A vocal minority of fans are up in arms about the modern tech tropes coming in Duskmourn and he just answered one email from a guy who's leaving the game because of it when the set is still months away. MTG takes place in a multiverse of imaginary planes and possibilities. I find it hilarious and sad how rigid some people are about what's acceptable in an MTG set and what isn't, particularly when you have full control of how you play the game and who you play it with.

β½οΈ Tweaked my left shoulder pretty good yesterday when Jude Bellingham scored his late equalizer and our family room erupted into celebration. Not really surprised as I've had minor recurring issues with it over the the last couple years; just another aging annoyance.

πποΈ A Conjuring of Light π A solid conclusion to the trilogy and a high-quality audio book, but probably my least favorite of the three with the second book holding the top spot. I found the early, horrifically overwhelming power level of the big bad off-putting. I also found its initial foray into and immediate departure from the palace inexplicable as it never really felt threatened or vulnerable in that moment to me. The character and story development were great otherwise, particularly once most of the heroes escaped Red London on their fetch quest for the McGuffin. My other minor complaint was the length of the book, I find 19+ hour audio books a bit of a slog to get through and I think I had to renew this one three times!
