🗓 Microcosm - 2024 Jun 22-30
⚽️ JUN 30 2024 15:17
Exciting end to another mostly dreadful England performance. Switzerland has to be the favorite to advance to the semis at this point.
⚽️ JUN 29 2024 12:54
Weather in Dortmund for the Germany - Denmark game is something else! They stopped the game at 35 minutes because of the lightning, tons of hail and heavy rain now. It's almost 10pm there so I wonder at what point they'd get to before they say no restart until tomorrow?

Drove up farther north than Deer Park for the first time in ages to pick up my son from a retreat near Loon Lake, WA. I have a lot of fond memories of spending time with family near Springale during the first twenty years of my life or so. My mom still owns some timber property out that way, but I no longer have any relatives there to visit.

🧙♂️The Bloomburrow and Duskmourn art and cards they've spoiled so far look pretty fun. The first Bloomburrow story releases are coming July 2nd as well.

Also, how sad is it that expect had an O'Reilly book written about it thirty years ago and I only learned about it in the last couple of years and never tried it before now.
🧰 JUN 27 2024 20:26
Finally taking the time to figure out how to use the expect command line tool. I'm hoping it will help solve some macOS scripting challenges at work that have been plaguing me for a long time.

Anton Watson is drafted 54th in the 2024 NBA Draft by the newly crowned Celtics! I hope he makes the roster, what a fantastic opportunity for the Gonzaga product.
⚽️ JUN 26 2024 10:29
Alex Morgan was left off the Olympic team and I for one am very happy to see Emma Hayes take this approach. No matter how great a player was in their prime, there's no way that the USWNT should be fielding players in their mid-30s and beyond for competitive tournaments. The US talent pool is too deep, It blocks player development, and the USWNT took a big step back after 2019 because they didn't ruthlessly refresh for the Olympics in 2021.

I always enjoy Pauper events on Arena, but I think I like Artisan events even more because of the larger card pool and greater power level (Arena Pauper events are also greatly hindered by all the upshifts). Brewed up an Azorius artifact flyers deck that I want to play more once I complete the daily quest that requires killing enemy creatures.

Spotify's DJ X beta AI channel is cool. I like the choices fine so far, but I particularly like having a smooth-voiced personal DJ who occasionally interjects and sets up the coming music.
⚽️ JUN 25 2024 14:04
Another ridiculously disappointing England match. Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer not getting more game time in the first three matches is an absolute crime. Bellingham has been underwhelming since the first game and atrocious tonight.
👾 JUN 24 2024 08:35
Introduced my youngest daughter to Aseprite yesterday and started showing her how simple tools like the pencil, line tool, and paint bucket work. I could see her (and her sisters) really getting into making pixel art.
👾 JUN 24 2024 08:08
Working with bitmap fonts is one of my new favorite activities. I haven't created anything particularly compelling yet and have mostly just been recreating, tweaking, or porting existing fonts, but I love how accessible and straightforward it is.
🏃 JUN 24 2024 07:56
First evening summer run in a long time last night. It was really nice and breezy after what had been a very hot day. I took it easy and finished last (which makes me proud, all three of my younger daughters have really taken to our runs).
🏃 JUN 22 2024 13:53
Ran my first solo 8K run in a long time. Felt good, but my current fitness level and top-end speed are pretty disappointing by my standards and I faded after the 5K mark. We'll see how my body responds to a summer of continued running.

Wrexham signing keeper Arthur Okonkwo to a permanent three-year deal from Arsenal is a huge start to the summer transfer window for them. He's a quality young keeper and seems like a player who could bring a decent transfer fee in the future if he continues on his current trajectory.
