I was vaguely aware that the Marathon Trilogy is still playable on modern hardware, and I tracked it down today on a whim. The series is 30 years old this year and probably the fps I played the most with my friends back in the day. From today's perspective, the lack of a jump key and unique floaty momentum physics is fairly mind-blowing.

Today I realized that it's been 4 years now since Hello Internet posted it's final episode (to date). Brady Herran later announced that the show was simply on hiatus and everything was fine between the two hosts but four years later it seems pretty likely that it's just over. It's wild that they just walked away from a show that was getting like $10,000 per episode in Patreon money at its peak and offered zero closure to a very dedicated fanbase.

Arsenal's Ben White turning down England is pretty interesting from a coaching perspective. Based on the recent article in The Athletic it sounds like a case of completely botched man management and a player that felt like the experience and lack of playing time was not worth the personal aggravation.

Continuing to have a lot of fun playing Wildermyth with my daughters. We're still all playing together on one computer and reading the comic voice bubbles for our own characters so it's actually good reading practice too with lots of new and tricky words.

A quick follow-up to the scenario of being trapped in a sinking car. Not only are tempered glass windows surprisingly hard to break without a tool, but most newer cars (and Teslas) have laminated side windows that like windshields are even more difficult to break through because of the inner plastic layer.

After a rough stretch of Premier Drafts, Quick Draft is working out a lot better for me so far. 4-1 in my latest one with a pretty decent Dimir deck. I forgot that I needed to cut five cards before it was too late to cancel but I still won my first game.

The Gonzaga women beat Portland by 50 a week ago and just lost to them by 1 in the WCC championship game. So disappointing, particularly if it means they don't get to host opening round NCAA games now.

A quick follow-up YouTube search found a lot of evidence that it's really hard to break the driver's side door window if you don't have an adequate tool. I remembered that MythBusters tested the scenario but I didn't realize they kind of cheated and never tested any consumer-grade glass breaker solutions.

Grammarly Premium's weekly stats emails are pretty cool. Just got one for the first time so I didn't realize this is something the service provided. It's fascinating to me to see the types of errors I make regularly and also tone and vocabulary analysis.

One thing that I'm intrigued to play with in Wildermyth is the built in comic editor. I'm interested in creating mods eventually, but I'm also really curious about what is possible from a static storytelling perspective.

Setting up a Drafts Action to publish here via the microblog.php xml-rpc interface is now on my todo list.

Wildermyth with my daughters is going pretty well so far. We're still all playing together on one computer as we get the hang of the game. Everyone has a character now as we were able to add one more to the party after the initial three character adventure.

It's Spring Break for the faculty and students this week so campus should be pretty quiet. I'm looking forward to being able to update a lot of Macs, particularly with the three minor macOS updates that came out last week.

Updating some of my test Macs to all the relevant new macOS point releases that came out yesterday. Seems fine so far in Monterey, Ventura, and Sonoma.

I've tuned out of Sorare for a few months and they've radically overhauled how the competitions will work going forward. It's going to take me a while to figure things out again!

Kind of frustrating to wake up a few hours earlier than I needed to. But it does mean I could get up and pick a couple of fantasy teams on Sorare for the first time in months.
