The kernel update in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS created an issue where the MacBook Air's internal ssd was no longer recognized. The fix was adding
intel_iommu=offto the kernel options, but I learned this after thinking I had messed up the update and was better off doing a full system reinstall. Turns out the Live Installer had the same issue so now I had to supply the kernel option twice just to get things installed and booting.🙄⚙️ MAY 23 2024 08:24
Updating the MATEBook Air to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS this morning and will probably update some other computers in a bit as well.

Arena games offline for maintenance this morning. Went to finish my latest quick draft which started great (4-0) and then fizzled (0-2 thanks to Oko and then a misplay with Dust Animus in very close games).

I'm intrigued to take a look at Legends of Runeterra now that I've realized PVDDR has been working on it as a designer and that it's super PVE and story-oriented.

One funny thing about setting up my younger daughters with MTGA accounts is that they're very into all the available pets and avatar options (which is totally fine and age-appropriate). I have specifically purchased one or two pets over the years, but generally, I've just acquired them through the mastery passes. I've spent some gold on cosmetics and bundles over the years, but the vast majority of my in-game currency goes toward entry fees/card acquisition.

Helped my ten-year-old daughter set up a Magic Arena account so we can play each other there. Coming up with a handle is always the hardest part of this task, but a quick ChatGPT query actually gave us 10+ good suggestions.

Taking the week off to spend time with the kids and do some small projects around the house while Mary attends a week-long training conference. Also, time to revisit projects like my semi-defunct blog.

Our usual route back home from soccer this afternoon was blocked by a single-engine plane's emergency landing on the North-South Corridor between Wellesley and Francis. Thankfully there were no injuries, but now they need to figure out how to get the plane out of there.

Had a great lunchtime run with my younger daughters. Our longest continuous run (25 minutes) and our fastest average pace yet (5:47/km).
