⚙️ Updating and reconfiguring a bunch of cart-housed MacBooks at work this week. It's a nice change of pace from my usual routine, but gets pretty repetitive until I set up some automation.

🏡 Gave our storage shed a thorough cleaning and once over with the shop vac. Still need to sort through a bunch of the kids' old outside toys that were in there, but making real progress.

Really disappointed in the lack of substitutions and how late they came.

🧰 TIL: Sonoma and later have better Emoji support via the fn key and you can improve the picker on Monterey by clicking on the icon in the upper right-hand corner. So better than I had realized, but I'm setting up some text replacement shortcuts now.

🧰 The built-in macOS emoji picker is a terrible UI experience that has not kept pace with modern usage. I need to take a look at what my alternatives are right now because I'm finally fed up.

🧙♂️🏆 Finished 7-1 with my son's help in the Premier Draft I started this week. I drafted all the cards, and then he helped me make some cuts and gave me a lot of guidance on best plays.

📺 Dandadan S1E1 - That's How Love Starts, Ya Know! 👍 Saw this go by on Netflix and was intrigued. Decided to check it out and came away entertained and looking forward to the next episode. There's definitely a wild dynamic where all the antagonists so far are completely sex-obsessed monsters in contrast to the two loaner protagonists who are gradually developing an unlikely yet strong connection through shared experience and empathy.

⚽️🎮 Started looking into FM25 preorder pricing options. US players can preorder for about $50 (~$10 discount) right now, but in Europe there are geo-locked discounts up to $35. Official release is November 26. I really need to get in some FM24 games between now and then.

🤖NotebookLM was fast and impressive with all three types of input I had it create podcasts for today. I started with a technical macOS system administration document, switched things up picked a web column about Magic the Gathering, and finished with a Star Wars blog post featuring the latest rumors about The Mandalorian and Grogu.

📚 Almost done reading Order of the Phoenix with the family. Still my least favorite of the series, but I always appreciated the skill required to realistically turn Harry into a moody, unlikable teen for large portions of the book.

🤖 I've got to say that I'm really impressed with NotebookLM's audio output. The service transformed a dry instructional article on security best practices and setup into an entertaining two-host conversational podcast.

🤖 Trying out NotebooksLM on some Jamf LAPS (Local Administrator Password Solution) documentation as I'm looking to implement this for work. It generated an 8 minute podcast in a few minutes and I'm going to see how it did.

⚙️ Wrapped up my April 2020 blog import task, now so many more months to do. I do enjoy going back through my old posts to see what I was up to and thinking about in the past even though it's a pretty massive undertaking.

🧙♂️Off to my best Premier Draft start yet with a Dimir eerie enchantments deck splashing red thanks to my older son the limited expert. He helped me chop things down from 50 cards to 40 and guided me through the first three or four games as I have a bunch of cards I haven't played with before.

It occurs to me that the way I pronounce Axodys (my usual online handle for three decades- aks-awd-iss if you weren't sure) doesn't map well to Toki Pona for a few reasons. Figuring out a version that works for me while following the syllabic rules of Toki Pona should be a good learning exercise.

Intrigued to start learning Toki Pona. As of fan of constructed languages, I've been aware of it for a long time, but never delved into it too deeply before today. I find the simplicity particularly appealing in 2024, and I think my younger daughters might get a kick out of it as well.

🍏 My favorite piece of news from the JNUC Keynote came from the Apple rep- Apple School/Business now supports turning off Activation Lock for any managed hardware. Just look up the serial and deactivate it.

🍏 Watching the 2024 JNUC Keynote. Looks like Configurations have a pretty significant UI paradigm change built around Apple's Declarative Device Management capabilities and will be called Blueprints going forward.
