Had a nice time over at Union Stadium this evening with all the other parents and families watching the Mt. Spokane H.S. Marching Band perform for us. They did two run-throughs and are looking and sounding great heading into their last competition of the year next weekend down in Eugene. I'm really glad Nate has been able to take part this year.

I'm excited to have Universes Beyond be part of Standard going forward. I think the Final Fantasy set will be cool even though I'm not familiar with that franchise at all, but I'm completely hyped for the many Marvel sets to come.

Confirmed that you can reset the build settings on an existing Open Core installer so I'm trying Sonoma on a 2013 MacBook Air now. I'd tried Linux on it previously, but the latest Ubuntu LTS required a custom kernel switch just to be able to access the internal ssd- a very manual and fiddly process I didn't appreciate having to troubleshoot.

The Noir Safari extension has been great on macOS so far. Good default options, it's easy to tweak individual sites, and creating custom themes is simple as well.

Legacy Open Core is pretty cool. I didn't think I'd be able to get much more life out of this 2015 iMac, but it should be usable for a few more years now. I have a few more old Macs I want to try it on too.

Three moose rocked up into our neighborhood right around the time the girls and I were planning to run today: a big male with impressive antlers, a mom, and a calf. We postponed our run until tomorrow and took a bunch of pictures.

Homebrew no longer supporting precompiled binaries for macOS Monterey is super obnoxious when you have stuff installed that relies on llvm.

Intrigued to try helix (a post-nvim variant written in Rust) as it does some pretty cool stuff out of the box without requiring a bunch of additional setup and plugins.

Realized I'd never installed iTerm on my main desktop so downloaded the latest version. Configuration is a whole other project, but nvim and its 24-bit theme look great!

Just realized that NetNewsWire has theme support and now I've got a new project. To be fair I'm generally happy with the default dark mode, but I enjoy porting color schemes that I like.

Had to go to Twitter to see if they were reacting to Mikey Moore's sideline dribbling like I was. They were- unbelievable skill from the 17 year-old as he dribbles by multiple AZ defenders.

Tried Dark Reader in Firefox, it works fine, but doesn't appear very customizable. Definitely of the opinion that I want theming and site-specific options. Those two features are worth paying for to me.

Looking into Dark Mode extensions for Safari and all the decent ones seem to be paid apps. Probably still worth it to me, but I'd like to test a few free options first.

Randomly discovered a bank envelope full of $100 bills in the storage next to my new desk location. Didn't look too closely at them until I got my supervisor involved, but it turned out they were a bunch of paper copies once he had me look closer.๐

Installing Sequoia on one of my test Macs so I can test printing on campus. I've heard reports of issues after a few unsanctioned updates, but PaperCut doesn't report any widespread problems, particularly if you recreate your print queues.

Got a version of Selenized - Dark based on the original Solarized Dark theme working in Drafts. It looks pretty good, but I may still tweak the color assignments.
