Between the Silo season 2 finale and the Severance season 2 premiere banger day for Apple TV+.

The new coils are out for delivery but haven't arrived yet. Really hoping they don't show up at the very end of the window or not at all.
π JAN 17 2025 10:41
Sounds like the Ferris freshman and JV teams are solid groups, and some of the better varsity players are underclassmen so happy to hear the program's future looks bright despite a down year.

Cold foggy morning today. It made finding my doctor's office surprisingly disorienting. Had to go get some blood drawn for some lab work in advance of an upcoming physical.
ππ§ JAN 16 2025 21:48
Cylinder 1 misfire was the diagnosis. Given the mileage replacing all the sparkplugs seemed like a good option (and was confirmed once I pulled the old ones), unfortunately, it didn't resolve the issue. New coils were ordered for tomorrow, fingers crossed that that will correct the issue.
ππ§ JAN 16 2025 13:56
My daughter's car started idling roughly and throwing check engine lights this morning. Still seems to be drivable so I'm going to have the engine codes checked at the auto part store this afternoon so we can decide on next actions. Hoping it's as simple as replacing the spark plugs.
πΉ JAN 16 2025 08:24
Finding some old family video clips of my older kids (and our two departed weims) yesterday when they were much younger was a real highlight. I really need to get those older videos and pictures organized and backed up in the cloud now.
π JAN 16 2025 08:21
Forgot about a big departmental meeting this morning. I really shouldn't be surprised by how busy this week has been, as it's the start of second semester, but it kind of took me by surprise.
π JAN 15 2025 18:54
The feediverse is a such a perfect word-coinage for the RSS-oriented indieweb that I'm kind of surprised that I haven't heard anybody use it before today.

Bissouma's kind of got Sideshow Bob vibes with his hair today for the NLD, but it's working and I like his energy level.
π₯Ά JAN 15 2025 08:50
Colder commute this morning. Looks like we can expect more typical January temperatures in the week ahead, but not much in the way of moisture.
π JAN 14 2025 19:26
Watched my first Ferris basketball game in forever. They lost at Mead 62 - 72, but it was looking like a thirty-point blowout until a bunch of guys hit 3's in the fourth to make it semi-respectable.
πβοΈ JAN 14 2025 14:54
M4 mini setup continues. Using Orion as my default browser across macs at the moment. Need to see if I can find an hdmi to display port cable at work so I can easily hook it up at home.
π JAN 14 2025 08:07
Found a new highly successful unconventional coach and school to study in Jim Crutchfield and D. II Nova Southeastern.
ππΊ JAN 13 2025 23:40
Silo season 2 looks like it's going to end with a bang. Looking forward to watching Dark Matter and Slow Horses season 4 in the near future and of course Severance season 2.
π JAN 13 2025 12:08
My new work M4 Mini just pulled a 49.2 in Browser Bench! That's like 6 times faster than the iMac I'm writing this on.
π JAN 13 2025 09:29
I completely forgot that there were a couple iPad Pro generations prior to the 3rd generation that debuted the no home button and usb-c hardware form factor I think of when anyone says "iPad Pro".
πJAN 12 2025 15:01
Packed up the outdoor Christmas lights. It's amazing how much faster taking them down was than putting them up!
β½οΈ JAN 12 2025 05:36
Spurs not looking great in the first half. Werner not distinguishing himself in the 9 and Brennan Johnson has been poor on the right. Maddison has had some chances, Mikey Moore has been fine, but it hasn't been good enough up front otherwise.
π JAN 11 2025 08:26
Orion's built-in Page Tweaks dark mode gives me a better result for Scripting News than the Noir plugin in Safari.
π» JAN 11 2025 08:18
Optimizing setup on the 13" MacBook Air with Orion for the smaller built-in screen. I'm a huge fan of the vertical tabs bar, but knowing the keystrokes to hide it is super useful.
π± JAN 10 2025 22:07
On a hunch ran Browser Bench on my iPhone 11 for the first time and as I suspected it was faster than almost all my macs!
ππ§ JAN 10 2025 17:35
On a whim started listening to Wil Wheaton's Still Just a Geek annotated audiobook memoir after finding it was available for checkout on Libby. I've followed his blog forever, but I'm not certain if I ever read the original 2004 version. I really enjoy audio memoirs like these when they're done by the author themselves.
πβοΈ JAN 10 2025 17:23
Had to try a few different old drives to get one that worked, but succeeded in installing Sonoma on the new-to-me 13" MacBook Air. There are a few more around the house I can upgrade so I may do them while I have an installer ready to go.
π JAN 10 2025 17:07
Had a good run on the half-inch or less of snow we had on the ground today. Started with a damp running top because it wasn't completely dry after going through the wash, but it was completely fine once it warmed up to body temperature.
βοΈ JAN 10 2025 12:12
Some nice fluffy flakes earlier, but looks like it's letting up now. Hoping to do a run with the girls this afternoon if the conditions are okay.
β΅οΈ JAN 09 2025 18:45
I've been really enjoying the YouTube channel featuring the 7 year rebuild of Tally Ho, a classic wooden English racing yacht built in 1910. All the work took place in Sequim and Port Townsend so I've got a lot of additional affinity for the whole project.
π» JAN 09 2025 18:39
The big initial Time Machine import I'm overseeing on a new MacBook for a friend of mine is finally down to the last half hour. Fingers crossed that it wraps up faster than the remaining estimate!
π JAN 09 2025 15:01
Finished my training and feeling kind of drained. Modern virtualized training environments are really cool compared to what we used to have to work with.
βοΈ JAN 09 2025 06:56
Looks like today will be another gloomy winter day, with no precipitation until late tomorrow afternoon.
π€ JAN 09 2025 06:53
Last day of Microsoft training today. Looking forward to being able to take some of my new knowledge into the production realm at work as well as just getting back to my usual macOS-related work.
