🗓 November 2024 Break Day 2
Slept in a little this morning until about 8 am, then eventually got up and made some coffee. Played some Magic Arena and crafted the Cats deck CGB promoted recently. It was terrible for me going like 1-4 so I started making some obvious tweaks like "Sheltered by Ghosts", reducing the land count and curve. We'll see how it goes in the next couple days. I was also on the draw 4 out of 5 times I think.
Took the boys on a hour-long practice drive midmorning. I had Houston drive me to the library to drop off a couple DVDs and then we headed into the Whitworth neighborhood and some of the residentials over on that side of Division. I had the boys swap in Pioneer Park and then had Nathan drive into the residential area just north of there. We worked our way up the hill and past Midway. From there I had him finish out the 12K loop I used to do from the in-laws and then take Colbert road to the highway and back home. It timed out about perfectly at an hour and we had a good mix of arterials, residential, and highway.
We had last night's leftover burrito materials to work with for lunch today so I finished off the black beans and left the seasoned ground beef for the kids. I also had some salsa and Fritos Scoops, but we're out of my usual lunch staples of Greek yogurt and guacomole.
I watched a couple sitcoms while I ate. First an episode of Brooklyn Nine-nine from season 3 and then a Young Sheldon from season 2. I hadn't watched any Sheldon episodes in months, but going through my episode capsules from June today got me motivated again. I definitely dropped some shows over the summer for no clear reason other than needing a break.
Spent a little more time in the backyard raking leaves in the garden area again. There's a big tree just across the fence that had a ton of leaves and most ended up in the garden. There have been so many years where we've gotten a decent snow before all those leaves fall off and it ends up with a lot of broken branches. Not this year though as almost everything has already fallen off and we haven't had any significant sticking snow at all. Still need to do a big pine needle pass in the next few days.
Ended up spending quite a bit of time tracking down Young Sheldon episode and movie poster images for my June Microcosm tv and movie breakout posts. Discovered that I had also simply failed to post for a few episodes. I backed way off doing capsule episode reviews over the summer by July. Perhaps I was burned out or disinterested. I don't think I resume doing that for high volume shows, but I'm not opposed to doing it more regularly weekly viewing releases.
Tonight we had breakfast for dinner, specifically pancakes and hash browns. I appreciate going simple when we've got back-to-back Thanksgiving meals with relatives starting tomorrow. I am looking forward to have plenty of leftovers heading into next week.
