So... Axodys?

🐶 Pupdate

We're approaching two weeks with our pups now. They're settling into a pretty good routine where we put them to bed between 10 and 11 pm and then they don't wake up and need a bathroom break until about 2:30 am. Unfortunately once we put them back down again they usually don't make it beyond 5am until the next trip outside and there's no hope of getting them back in their crate after that.

Tonight they both crashed just before 10pm. The kids and I tried to engage with them and get them to make it a little further since Mary was working late, but it was clear that they were ready so we took them on up. That was actually fine and they didn't stir further even though I wasn't in the room with them. We'll see what time they get up in the middle of the night now.

Potty training-wise they're still nowhere close. We send them outside to run around our backyard all the time throughout the day, but they're still peeing and pooping inside a lot. Our laminate flooring makes cleanup fairly easy, but if we ever miss a pee spot and a puddle sits too long it can still damage the flooring so we have to be constantly vigilant. We also have to move fast on any indoor poops because they tend to mess with it rather than leaving it alone.

The snow, cold-weather, and illness has really cut down on the amount of quality time that our family has been spending with them outside over the last week. I'm hopeful that will improve as things warm up over the next few weeks. Luckily they have each other and have a lot of fun rough-housing and running around together anyway. Getting them outside to burn off all their energy has helped them stay calm around the house most of the time too where we are getting plenty of interaction with them. They're still super-cute, loving, and a lot of fun.
