🎧 Spotify Wrapped 2024
Inspired by Jedda I've decided to join the Spotify Wrapped fun and peel back the curtain on my listening habits for 2024. There are some curious ones that must have been created by overlapping playlists as I don't tend to listen to many full albums, although Charli xcx's Brat was pretty solidly in the rotation alongside Chapell Roan's The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess by late summer. Stats aside, CHARGER was actually my favorite song discovery of the year, I love how meaningful and relatable a mundane piece of modern technology can be and it's such a catchy and wistful song.
High Hopes launched the Upbeat Mix that I fired up a lot when it was time to wash the dishes after dinner this summer. It's such a banger that I'd often listen to it twice in a row, no wonder it jumped to the top. Midnight City was the payoff song for Season 4 of For All Mankind and added a whole layer of meaning to an already amazing tune. I discovered Sequoia via my oldest daughter's end-of-year dance recital. Kabin Crew charmed me with their bouncy UK kid rap, The Spark, particularly the line that I misheard as "Caillou gettin' road rage."1
There's one recent addition to my listening rotation that didn't make the list because of the timing. Wallice released The Jester at the beginning of November and I was immediately smitten with her brand of indie pop rock from The Opener on. I'll be shocked if she doesn't have a prominent position in my 2025 Wrapped.
