🥊 Tyson vs Paul
I got sucked into the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson1 boxing event tonight. It was on Netflix and free so I figured Why not take a look? Turns out the Katie Taylor - Amanda Serrano undercard was about to start when I pulled it up and it ended up being the best fight of the night. Serrano had to overcome a huge and gruesome split above her right eye thanks to a Taylor headbutt early in the match and was ultimately robbed by all three judges. She threw more punches and landed more hits end of story.
Iron Mike had a pre-bout interview from the locker room during the women's fight. It was completely innocuous up until he punctuated it by walking away from the camera to reveal a jock-strap-clad double-cheeked salute to the Netflix audience. Unfortunately, that included my youngest daughter who was watching the women's fight with me. We were both kind of stunned.🤣
I was surprised that the Tyson fight began at midnight eastern time and only ended up watching the first three rounds. Tyson started okay, but couldn't maintain the intensity and the commentators were quite concerned by the end of the third round. I took off to do a family activity my girls had been planning all day. It doesn't sound like I missed much. Iron Mike went all eight rounds, but lost the decision.
During his peak in my teenage years Mike Tyson was unbelievable. So many of his fights ended in a knockout less than a minute into the first round! Did I want to see him knock out Jake Paul too? Yes, I did.↩
