🚗🔧 Week Notes 003
🗓️ // Jan 12, 2025 - Jan 18, 2025
This was a really weird week for me in terms of going by quickly despite no holiday or time off. Weather-wise we finally hit seasonably normal cold January temperatures and I wonder if that contributed to my first item.
- Got a call in the middle of a meeting Thursday that my daughter was having car trouble. She's only had it a month and it had been great up until now so not the news you want to hear about a used car. Needless to say, getting it into working order without having to take it into the dealer to sort out has been top of mind since. Changed the spark plugs and coils (which it was due for maintenance cycle-wise) while addressing the misfire, but a fuel injector is the actual problem I need to fix.
- Went to my first Ferris varsity game since the pandemic on Tuesday when they played at Mead. Best part was seeing and saying hello to a lot of old friends. Good to see Erik Powell back on the bench and coaching again.
- Got to see all nine of the Australian Shepherd puppies again late Saturday morning. They're all super-cute and I can identify six or seven of them on sight by their nicknames and characteristics, but I'm very excited to get our two in a few more weeks when they're ready.
- Continued setting up my work M4 mini, but still need to get everything off my old iMac so we can retire it. Not entirely happy with the home side of my setup with the mini as I need a hdmi to display port cable to use the monitor I had planned to. Also need to get in the habit of packing my wireless keyboard and trackpad at the same time.
👾 Playing
- 🧙♂ Up to Gold 2 now on my slow journey to Platinum in ranked. Took me until Saturday to get all 15 of my weekly wins, but I'm totally on track for the mastery pass.
📚 Reading
- 🎧 Wil Wheaton's Still Just a Geek annotated audiobook continues to dominate my book consumption.
📺 Watching
- 📺 Finished up Silo Season 2 and loved the intense ending leading to a real cliffhanger. Looks like we're also going to be getting a lot of backstory on how the silos came to be in the next two seasons as we got our first flashback to near-present times.
- 📺 Severance Season 2 started off with a bang thanks to an entirely innie-only perspective first episode that leaves so many questions about what's going on out in the real world (and how much time has actually passed). I love this show so much.
- 🍿 Watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I with the family. I thought Hedwig's death scenario made far more sense in the movie than in the book.
🎧 Listening
- Listened to a few more podcasts this week, but mostly the audiobook and not much music at all.
