πΊ Week Notes 010
ποΈ // Mar 2, 2025 - Mar 8, 2025
It was a fairly uneventful but reasonably productive week overall. Now that we're in Lent the family switches from homemade pizza and movie nights on the weekend to other favorite meals and family game nights.
- Watched a lot of television this week but completely ignored the State of the Union (technically not a State of the Union anyway).
- Took the day off Wednesday and attended Ash Wednesday mass with the family.
- Got in three runs with the girls in a week for the first time in months. Really pushed the pace today for the first time in a long while, but they all handled it well, with S staying with me for over half of the run.
πΎ Playing
- π§ββ Mostly limited this week with a couple of events. Starting to get a little bit tired of Aetherdrift.
- Boggle ArcadeEdition is my new favorite casual word game on Apple Arcade.
- π¦Έπ»π² Started looking into Tiny Supers again as a simplified tabletop rpg that the family could play together on game night.
- Played Apples to Apples with the whole family and one of my nieces tonight and had a ton of laughs. Won 7 rounds myself.
Projects
- Commenced yardwork season by removing the two giant rhubarbs from our garden. We never ended up using them for pie and given how much the pups like to chew on everything, it seemed prudent to remove a poison hazard.
- Made some progress on our taxes today. As expected, with both of our primary incomes factored in, we are on track for a return. There is still some additional smaller income to track down and of course, various deductions to factor in. Want to have it filed by the end of next week.
- π§ββ Tarkir Dragonstorm stories started dropping this week so I've started assembling them into an epub.
π Reading
- ππ§ Finished the Source Code audiobook ππ, sent my compliments to Wil Wheaton on Bluesky for his excellent performance, and received a nice reply back.
πΊ Watching
- πΊ Paradise We're in peak dystopic post-apocalyptic bunker television, but this addition to the genre brings some excellent Lost-esque character development and reveals to the table. I binged the first six episodes in a couple of days and am saving the last two for next week.
- πΊ Daredevil Born Again (Ep 1-2) ππ Shocking beginning sets up a unique dynamic for Matt Murdock as he attempts to walk away from the mask and focus on being a lawyer. Seems likely that Mayor Kingpin will force him back into the streets of New York sooner rather than later.
- πΊ Severance S2E9: Sweet Vitriol π Important Cobel episode with some beautiful and haunting cinematography. This is a great setup for the final two episodes of the season and will age better when you can immediately follow it up with the next episode. As a standalone weekly episode, it was simply too spare and bleak to match the enjoyment provided by the first seven episodes of this season.
π§ Listening
- π§ββπ§ Listened to a few more MTG Drive to Work with Mark Rosewater episodes from my hefty backlog.
- β½οΈπ§ Avoided all Spurs-related podcasts again after a bad week, but did enjoy some Women's Game podcasts. Sam Mewis and friends always give me a lift, especially when there is USWNT stuff to discuss.
- Listened to a little more music as well, but nothing new or exciting.
