🦷 Week Notes 039
🗓️ // Sep 21, 2025 - Sep 27, 2025
Another busy soccer season week with multiple practices across Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and Mary having work or activities all five weekdays as well. It also finally started cooling off in the evenings and mornings like you would expect for Spokane in late September. Still had some hot and hazy days, and Thursday had a lot of wind and poor air quality, but it was a one day issue.
🦷 Houston finally got his wisdom teeth out at the beginning of the week so we've finally crossed that milestone with all three of our older kids. Everything went smoothly and he's been in minimal pain during his recovery. We've also kept him away from dog management this week since they love to playfully leap up and lunge at faces when they get excited which is exactly as obnoxious and terrifying to human dental work as you can imagine.😱
⚽️ Spurs had a successful game against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup and notched a 3-0 home victory with a decently rotated squad. Later in the week we started getting some more crazy takeover rumors from an American consortium with NFL connections. The Lewis family continues to deny the team is for sale.
💬 Continuing to explore using Delta Chat with the family. I haven't got everyone on board yet, but the Tiny Moments microblog webxdc app is working well for logging the runs I'm doing with the girls, and also a Notabli replacement for the larger family group chat I've set up.
⚾️ The Mariners ended up winning the American League West so I'm going to have to pay attention to the post season this year. My dad would probably never forgive me if I skipped out on it. On a MLB related note Apple TV+ has been doing some cool stuff on their recent broadcasts where they use iPhone 17 Pros as cameras.
🏡 The moles/voles have really ramped up their activity in the front yard with a new mound or two almost every day. My mitigation approach continues to be pitchfork aeration, putting some of the dirt back in the originating hole, and spreading the remaining dirt around with a rake.
Playing
🧙♂ The new through the Omen Paths Spider-man equivalent set is out on Arena. I've been working on my dailies and have bought some packs, but haven't done any drafts yet, and don't plan to do much more than one of those.
⚽️🎮 Getting excited for FM 26 as more videos continue to drop. Still need to preorder it using one of the various content creator codes that are out there.
⚽️📱 After actively thinking about deleting it finally put a little more effort into the Club EPL fantasy football app and actually crafted a lineup that won a match. It took me a bit to grasp the in game economics, but I find assembling a decent team while spending no actual money a fun challenge.
Watching
📺 Completely between shows this week and didn't watch anything on YouTube that I would consider particularly notable or worth passing on.
📺 Disney did drop a teaser for The Mandalorian and Grogu and I was seriously underwhelmed. It was all random clips and no story.
Listening
🎙🎶 Listened to and thoroughly enjoyed the Surely You Can't Be Serious podcast episodes about WHAM! Make it Big and George Michael's iconic post-WHAM solo effort Faith. Brought back lots of fun late 80s memories.
🎙⚽️ My usual smattering of Spurs podcasts since there were good games to talk about and the wild buy out news/rumors, but also skipped a fair amount as well.
Projects
🏡 A variety of home related tasks today. Getting our garden area fenced off for the winter since it's prime dirt and mud territory for dogs heading into the wet and cold season and finally replacing the handle and deadbolt on our garage entry door.
🍏💻 Updated a bunch of our older Macs to Sequoia 15.7 and one Open Core incompatible mode (darn T1 chip!) to Sonoma 14.8. Still need to upgrade both of the M1 MacBook Airs we have. I also really need to put together a list of all the Macs we have set up in our house now.
🌐 I need to get back to the Mac mini I was hoping to do some home web serving from. Kind of stalled out on it when I ran into an error with Orbstack/Docker on it.
