π Week Notes 040
Felt like Fall really started to settle in weather-wise. Temperatures have finally settled down into the high 60s low 70s after way too many 80Β° F days in September. Even wore a jacket into work a few times with the cool foggy mornings we've been having. Had at least one good rainy day as well and hopefully more are on the way.
πΆ Echo injured one of his legs Thursday night and it's been pretty disruptive to are usual routines as we've tried to make sure the doesn't aggravate it with his normal excessive energy. Luckily I was home Friday and Mary didn't have work until afternoon. The girls did a good job of helping out as well. He still has a limp, but it's much less pronounced than it was initially.
π Got in a Pumpkin Spice Mocha from Starbucks midweek after accidentally forgetting my lunch time Coke Zero and not wanting to run a caffeine deficit. I'm too frugal to make $6 a pop for a Grande more than a rare treat so I used Starbucks card money that I've had sitting around for over a year.
β½οΈ Surprisingly successful week for Spurs with a 2-2 Champions League draw above the Arctic Circle in Norway followed by huge 2-1 win at Leeds in the driving rain to put them second in the table (at the moment) heading into the international break. Mathys Tel and Kudus were the goal scorers, and it was great to see both those guys have big games when we needed it.
Playing
π§ββ Kept up on my daily quests and Midweek Magic went really well, but keeping it pretty chill on the Magic Arena front. Did try one Through the Omenpath Quick Draft since it's pick-two and win-seven or lose-three and won my first game.
π§ββ Played Hobbiton Recall from the IFComp and ended up quite disappointed. I was excited for the use of Gruescript and the concept seemed really promising. Ultimately I was put off by the flawed AI pixel art (the kitchen had an oven faucet and a separate spoutless sink full of dishes!), dragging real life puzzle gauntlet (took me two hours just to get to Recall and I never reached Hobbiton!), and unfunny misogynistic asides.
β½οΈ Getting the hang of the Club Fantasy EPL game and got my salary cap up to 21.5M this week. Hoping to get up to 25M by the end of the international break. Feel pretty good about my chances for this week's matchup with 29 points from two players so far. Definitely feel like highly rated/cost players are rarely worth it.
Watching
πΊ Slow Horses S5E1 was a really promising start to the new season. Lots of interesting conspiracy with unclear connections. The real question is why is Roddy Ho such an unwitting trouble magnet this season?
πΊπ I hadn't heard about Chad Powers until this week, but I immediately got sucked in after the first episode. Glen Powell appears to be having the time of his life playing both personas and Steve Zahn as the head coach is pretty great.
Listening
πΆ Kid A turned 25 this week so I took a trip down memory lane to add it to the rotation. Distinctly remembered listening to it a lot in the lead up to our wedding (25th Anniversary incoming!) so those songs took me right back.
β½οΈπ Sam and Kristi Mewis debuted their new weekly show on the Women's Game podcast and the sisterly soccer banter was pretty enjoyable. Sam also had a great interview with her soon to be sister-in-law Sam Kerr earlier in the week. I'm also intrigued by Becky Sauerbrunn's new weekly interview show, but I haven't listened to it yet.
π€π Really enjoying the Surely You Can't Be Serious pair of podcasts comparing Tron and War Games. They had a really interesting fan and computer scenario simulation guest for the episodes as well.
