📗 Week Notes 029
🗓️ // July 13, 2025 - July 19, 2025
Finally started up on my paper bujo practice this week after receiving a pair of damaged notebooks, getting a return authorization, and receiving their replacements on Wednesday. Set up took me a little while, but I was going full bore by Thursday afternoon. It's a completely natural format for me, as I've been doing it in a digital form at work for several years without fully realizing it.
🏊♀️ Two weeks worth of swimming lessons wrapped up this week for the younger three kids. S had a breakout out couple of weeks in her level 5/6 class. Mary registered her as a level 5 and her instructor passed her as a level 6 with flying colors because she was such a standout!
🏊♀️ L and J did well in their courses, but unfortunately, L had a very subpar instructor. When you've been coming to a pool for lessons for 14 years, you've got a pretty good idea of how things are supposed to be done, and it's frustrating to get one that's just not up to the standard and not being held accountable.
🐶 The pups continue to wreak havoc on our backyard with their love of digging. It's not about escaping; we just have really soft sandy soil, and they seem to love to make it fly.
👯 Lots of fun times for the kids with their cousins (who come over every summer to visit Mary's parents and take lessons at the same time) the last couple of weeks. It's always sad to see their visit come to an end; this time it's particularly bittersweet since they've finally aged out of lessons.
Playing
🧙♂ I'm at the point in a set release where I start to back off and just get my dailies done. Final Fantasy has been awesome, but I'm looking forward to Edge of Eternities and rotation. We'll see if I can get to Platinum in Constructed this week while I'm on vacation.
⚽️🎮 Big week for Bang Average Football stuff. Picked up the Steam version on sale so I can have access to all the databases and character styles people are coming up with in the Steam Workshop. Women's soccer databases are going to be my focus and I hope to have my USL Super League ready to go next week.
⚽️🎮 Started a new 1.1 BAF story mode season in Hard Mode (this time my character is Gladys Daystrom's ginger cousin Jean Daystrom), and started working on my Steam achievements in the game. Somehow put in 4+ hours that first day, but set it aside for the rest of the week.
Reading
- 🚀 Between books and behind on the Edge of Eternities serialized story. So that's what I'll be working on this week unless something new strikes my fancy (always a possibility).
Writing
🗓 Starting to put a little more attention on updating the blog again. Still haven't finished my post-2020 import work, but the bullet journal is going to help a lot.
📝 Still going strong in the daily 750 words practice. Would like to be a little more disciplined about converting more of what I write into blog posts. I've still got a ton of weak notes from this year that I've failed to port over.
Watching
📺 Dan Da Dan S1E15 👍👍 Finally some progress in vanquishing this round of adversaries. Okarun's close-quarters 20 rep attacks were 🔥🔥, but of course a cliffhanger ending.
📺 Leviathan 👍👍 Continuing to love this adaptation and halfway through already beyond what I've read in the series. Not sure, but think it will probably cover the complete trilogy.
⚽️ 0 - 2 preseason Spurs road win at Reading this morning. 👍👍 18-year-old Luka Vuscovic came on in the second half and immediately impacted the game with a headed assist to Lankshear, a goal of his own thanks to Kudus, and a timely goalline clearance. That's what I'm talking about!
Projects
🏡 Made some progress on filling in the side yard flower bed that the pups turned into a gigantic mud pit. My gate fence is working well so far, it's easy to move through and the pups respect its boundary.
⚽️🎮 My 2024-25 USL Super League database is coming along pretty well. Definitely hope to finish up the 1.0 this week and start playing some seasons.
Listening
🎧 Slow week for soccer related podcasts as Spurs are in a transfer news lull. I have been enjoying The Incomparable's Summer of Sub movie episodes though. Most recently they covered Run Silent Run Deep with Das Boot looming.
🎶 Even slower week from a musical perspective. Didn't listen to as much this week and didn't do much exploration or rotation.
