👩🏻🚀 Week Notes 067
🗓️ // Apr 5, 2026 - Apr 11, 2026
Big week for space travel as NASA successfully sent the crew of Artemis II around the moon and returned them to Earth safely yesterday. The descent through the atmosphere was quite smooth and they landed perfectly on target out in the Pacific Ocean somewhere in the general vicinity of San Diego. It was actually kind of funny how much longer it took 40 sailors to get them out of the capsule and onto the deck of the USS John P Murtha amphibious transport ship.
⚙️ A week shortened by the Easter holiday meant I only had to drive into work Wednesday and Thursday which was nice. Overall had a pretty productive week as I started rolling out Microsoft Defender to more of our campus Macs and knocked out some finally knocked out some nagging local and AD password sync related issues a couple of Mac users were having.
🏀 The two week NCAA portal window opened up this week and there were some unsurprising entries from this year's Gonzaga team, but I was disappointed to see Emmanuel Innocenti add his name to the list. He was a starter for most of the season and an absolute glue guy that brought a lot to the team by consistantly rebounding, defending, and being a team player. He hasn't immediately found a new home so I hope it works out for him.
⚽️ Roberto De Zerbi had his first full week with Spurs and pre-match presser with the media. The team seems to have taken to him quite well so far, but tomorrow will tell if he's going to be able to remotely fix things in time. Unfortunately West Ham smoked Wolves 4-0 yesterday to finally push us down into the relegation zone. We've probably got to find 3 wins in the last 7 games to stay up, and we also learned Kudus is going to require surgery and is done for the season.
🏫 Mary and I joined our younger son, Nathan, for the Gonzaga Experience Live program for accepted students on campus today. He'll be attending Gonzaga University this fall, and possibly taking a class or two this summer, but this was his first chance to get a real incoming student perspective, talk to faculty, and meet some future classmates. Mary and I were both curious to get the incoming parent perspective after three decades of involvement as an alum, and employee, respectively, and were not disappointed at all. Admissions does an absolutely amazing job selling Gonzaga to parents and students, and I'm looking forward to hearing about the student-only activities side from Nathan when he gets home.
Playing
- 🧙♂ Kept up on my Daily Quests, but still behind on my weekly wins as of today. Enjoyed the Midweek Magic phantom Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles draft and managed to get to 7 wins and 2 losses with a Boros deck.
Watching
📺 For All Mankind S5E3: Home 👍👍 I kind of wondered how Ed Baldwin's story would play out, and this was actually pretty poignant and satisfying. On the other hand, I'm kind of bummed out for Margo now that Alita is heading to Mars to get Sojourner fixed up for Kelly in the race to find life on Titan. More interesting Kurigan conspiracy developments, besides the stuff with Boyd, they somehow found out about Titan and immediately launched a mission. With the governor and his woodpecker minions cracking down on the Mars folk, I expect a lot more friction between Miles, his daughter Lily, and probably Alex as well.
📺 Daredevil: Born Again S2E4: Gloves Off 👍👍 Bullseye unleashed, is pure entertainment. I can't believe the series, as originally envisioned, didn't include him at all. Anyway, absolutely epic episode, and I love seeing some Kingpin trauma even though he's going to inevitably take it out on "the city he loves."
Projects
- 🧰 Found out this morning from Mary that something went wrong with the dryer last night. Manually spinning it in reverse is fine, but it makes a terrible noise when rotating it normally. Disassembled the back panel and cleaned the blower fan and lint trap (so much dust and random pocket debris like pencils and wood screws), but I think the problem is actually one of the rollers. Still need to disassemble things fully to get a look at that. Then once I've confirmed that's the case I can order from Amazon. Fingers crossed that that will be the issue and I can fix it myself.
