π Week Notes 064
ποΈ // Mar 15, 2026 - Mar 21, 2026
It's that time of the week again. I would describe it as productive for work, but miserable personally, as I continue to battle this persistent cold and nagging cough that flares up at night. I'm pretty functional once I'm showered and hydrated in the morning, but I'm really tired of this.
π March Madness hit in full force this week with the beginning of both the men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments. Gonzaga qualified in both and had very physical opening opponents, but only the men advanced to the second round with a 73-64 win over Kennesaw State. The Gonzaga women fell to Ole Miss 66-81 after a big fourth quarter offensive outburst made the final score a little more respectable.
π Mary and I finally got our replacement car shopping task underway with an afternoon trip to Post Falls yesterday. We found some promising cars that fit our needs and price range, but still need to sort out the financing side of things. That should happen next week and hopefully we can finally wrap this task up.
β½οΈ Very positive and momentum building week for Spurs with a 1-1 draw at Anfield and then a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champion's League return leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Unfortunately we also finally learned that Vicario has been carrying a hernia for a while now and will be getting surgery immediately after the Forest game tomorrow. The international break is like three weeks long though so he may only need to miss a couple of games during his recovery.
Playing
- π§ββ Did the bare minimum in Arena this week just Midweek Magic and kept up on my Daily Quests, but I still need to get five wins to close out the weekly rewards. Have yet to try any kind of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles draft.
Watching
πΊπ Watched a couple episodes of the The Handsome Podcast that Tig Notaro, does with Mae Martin, and Fortune Feimster. That's also in the order of my familiarity with the hosts beforehand. Fortune had been off my radar, but is a pretty hilarious agent of chaos, and also has a fantastic singing voice (they all randomly break into song a fair amount). They have a great cross-generational queer comedian friends dynamic, and they're all just super funny, nice, and positive, which is so refreshing in these trying times. Most shows start with them catching up and chatting for the first half and then they get an interesting random question from a celebrity they know (Stephen Colbert, Jennifer Aniston, and Sophia Bush posed questions on the three I saw this week) and then spend the second half answering and discussing before finishing with the celeb's own answer.
πΊ Paradise S2E6: Jane ππ Completely forgot to watch this all week, but was not disappointed at all when I watched yesterday as they finally started to give the backstory on one of our biggest mystery characters, and oh yeah, opened up more questions. I suspect the new mystery texts we saw are actually related to the mystery company Sinatra had Billy acquire for her, but time will tell. Oh, and Xavier and Gary's plan finally plays out and it didn't quite go like I anticipated.
πΊ JEOPARDY! 9524. Week 28 - Episode 139 ππ One of my favorite podcast hosts and Apple journalists, Jason Snell, makes his debut on the iconic trivia show. Competitive episode and it's pretty great when pair with the Incomparable Podcast episode Jason released about the experience.
Projects
- π€π The main improvement I made to my microcosm system this week was having Claude make a json to markdown/markdown to json utility script for the built-in emoji picker json file. That let me easily arrange all of my favorite emojis to the top of all of the various sections (favorites, weather, and mood being the first three), and organize things more to my liking. It's very much a work in progress and I immediately discovered an omission that annoyed me, but it should be trivial to fix now.
Listening
- π 809 TRIPLE J ON 'JEOPARDY!' WITH JENNINGS ππ Very cool inside baseball episode (that's like four times longer than the JEOPARDY! episode itself) as Jason Snell discusses his JEOPARDY! contestant experience with fellow Incomparable regulars and JEOPARDY! veterans, Glenn Fleishman and Dan Moren.
